Grand Dédale

The historic Manor House on Doolhof Wine Estate has been elegantly restored and houses 6 individually designed and appointed en-suite bedrooms and suites, offering 5 star luxuries and service. The free standing thatched cottage forms the 7th bedroom and is ideal for honeymooners or guests seeking additional privacy. Situated in a long valley below the Bainskloof Pass, the Estate not only offers a wide variety of outdoor activities such as hiking and mountain biking, but is also an ideal base from which to explore the Cape.

Romantic Honeymoon Cottage

The free-standing thatched stone cottage dating back to around 1707 must be the most amazing honeymoon hideaway in the Winelands. It has been carefully restored and is ideal for honeymoon couples or guests seeking privacy.

Accommodation at Grand Dédale consists of six beautifully appointed and individually designed rooms and suites in the historic Manor House and one free standing thatched cottage, all reflecting the Cape Dutch elegance of the buildings with 21st century comfort and 5 star luxury. Interiors have been carefully chosen to suit the style, with a subtle use of technology. The rooms are spacious and equipped with the finest materials, linen and amenities giving an instant homely feel. The vast Estate offers a range of outdoor activities such as walking, hiking and mountain biking. For a leisurely stroll choose the River Walk, a path of about 3.2 km winding along the river bank with three pedestrian bridges crisscrossing the river, or opt for the Vineyard Walk of 3.7 km which will lead you past all our noble grape varieties and reveals the most beautiful views of all the mountain ranges surrounding us. For the more active hikers there are routes of up to 18 km starting right from the Estate. The wild life on the Estate includes small mammals, like buck, porcupine, baboons and even Cape leopards have been spotted!
